For many years, good food has been one of Jersey's main attractions. All the right ingredients are on the island. Jersey has built an international reputation for its range of restaurants, cooking styles, talented chefs and a fantastic wealth of fresh produce available from the land and surrounding seas.
Good food is available at a wide range of places. There are over 190 places to eat, from cafés, pubs, wine bars, bistros, brasseries and restaurants serving traditional home cooked food to gourmet menus. The widespread use of fresh local produce and freshly caught local seafood; interesting and varied menus; together with outstanding value, all provide a dining experience to remember.
The culinary influence and flavours of France are strong, as are those from other parts of the world such as the Mediterranean, Portugal and more recently India, the Far East and Thailand. To complement the food, the island has its own locally produced wines. Vines are grown across the island and at La Mare Vineyards, the most southerly vineyard in the British Isles.
